#3 - Facilitate tutee insights

To facilitate is to provide opportunities and support to the tutee so they can do the work themselves. Since the tutee needs to make connections based on what they already know, they need to discover the answers.

Here's an example:

When James, a Chem student, says, “I don’t know how to diagram this chemical compound.”
What is the best response:

" Here, let me show you."
"You don't know how to do that? It is easy!"
"How would you like to start?"

Remember, you are helping him develop learning strategies and giving him guided practice in using them.
